What is ProQuest

ProQuest is a platform for eight of the Library’s databases.

ASFA: Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts ; ERIC: Education Resources Information Centre; LISA: Library and Information Sciences Abstracts; OxResearch; PAIS International; ProQuest ANZ Newsstand; ProQuest Central; Sociological Abstracts

Most of these databases (ASFA, ERIC, LISA, PAIS, Sociological Abstracts) are indexes previously hosted on other platforms. The new ProQuest provides a much friendlier interface.

What about full-text?

Importantly, ProQuest is rich with full-text resources. This includes ProQuest Central, an aggregation of 26 multidisciplinary databases. ProQuest ANZ Newsstand provides access to all major Australian and New Zealand newspapers. OxResearch is also a full-text database, new to Flinders in 2011. It comprises expert geopolitical and macro-economic analysis: profiles (including on over 180 countries); briefs and studies.

Connecting  to ProQuest

  • From the Databases link on the Library homepage, go to Find Databases A-Z
  • You can search for the title of ProQuest and/or each of the 8 individual databases.

More information/assistance?

ProQuest is quite intuitive to search. However, you may wish to download a Quick Start Reference Guide (9 pages PDF from the ProQuest website.) You are also very welcome to contact your Liaison Librarian for assistance.
