Fridays at the Library –  Free for all: the Open Access revolution
With Associate Professor Robert Phiddian, Cobi Smith and Heidi Ing

3.30-5.00pm
Friday 28 October 2011

Noel Stockdale Room, Central Library, Flinders University

An information revolution has taken place over the past decade. With the vast range of facts and opinions available on the Internet, it can be difficult to know what to trust.
The Open Access movement champions the free availability on the World Wide Web of high quality information produced by scholars and information professionals.

Our panel will look at some of the amazing opportunities for academic, professional and personal research which are now available.

  • Associate Professor Robert Phiddian is the Deputy Dean of the School of Humanities at Flinders University, and a lecturer in English.
  • Cobi Smith is the Science in Society Facilitator at RiAus, SA contact person for the Inspiring Australia initiative and a researcher in science communication at ANU.
  • Heidi Ing is the Science Liaison Librarian at Flinders University, and a historical researcher with a particular interest in South Australian history.

Jointly presented by Flinders University Library and RiAus
