Flinders University Library and Jembatan invite you to attend the launch of the Anton Lucas Collection: 45 years of Indonesian scholarship.
Associate Professor Anton Lucas began his studies of Indonesia in 1970 and commenced teaching at Flinders University in 1981. The Anton Lucas Collection was donated to the Library in 2013. It comprises original research materials, which contributed to Anton’s extensive publication of books and articles and his successful teaching career. The material covers the struggle for Indonesian revolution and independence, 1945-1949, (including recordings of interviews with participants), women in the revolution, religious movements, and agrarian and environmental protest movements.
The launch of the collection includes introductions from Tom Snook, Associate Librarian and special guest Anton Lucas who will speak about his work and the importance of the Collection. The launch will also feature a display of items from the Anton Lucas Collection as well as a cultural performance from West Sumatra introduced by Dr Priyambudi Sulistiyanto from Flinders University’s Jembatan.
The launch of this unique archive of modern Indonesian social history is a free event at the Central Library that will be opened by Professor Andrew Parkin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).
