Changes for EBSCOHost / CINAHL account holders

If you have ever created a MyEBSCO account, which includes accounts in CINAHL, Business Source Ultimate, AgeLine and more, you may need to log into your account and take action if you want to reserve any features such as saved searches, journal alerts, search alerts, and custom folders.
EBSCO is moving to a new user interface and requires account holders to log into their accounts and migrate their personalised account settings before Monday, 7th July 2025. EBSCO are making these changes to deliver a new user interface, including enhanced searching and an upgrade to CINAHL Ultimate, directly connecting users to a substantial portion of full-text articles from within the same platform.
Once you login to either EBSCO or CINAHL directly, you will be on the ‘classic interface’. From there you can switch to the new interface:

To avoid losing data, here is what you need to do for:

  • Saved searches: Log into EBSCO/CINAHL and while you are still in classic interface, move saved searches from custom folders to My Folder (see EBSCO video). This means the search (unless it has multiple lines) will be migrated.
  • Multi-line saved searches: Anyone who has saved a search string (i.e. multi-level search) in the ‘Saved Searches’ folder will need to copy their search terms to a word document or take a screenshot, see the EBSCO video on combined searches. EBSCO will not be preserving multiple lines in saved searches, so login to EBSCO/CINAHL (stay in classic view) and take a copy of them before the interface switches over.
  • Search alerts: If you wish to keep receiving email alerts for a search term, login to EBSCO/CINAHL to check what you have search alerts set up for. Then switch to the new interface (pictured above) and create a new search alert the same as your previous ones. Log out of the new interface and then log back in from scratch to return to the classic interface and delete the old search alerts to avoid receiving duplicate emails.
  • Journal alerts: Login to EBSCO/CINAHL and switch to the new interface (pictured above). From there, create a journal alert for any journal you wish to receive new content notifications for. Log out of the new interface and then log back in from scratch to return to the classic interface and delete the old search alerts to avoid receiving duplicate emails.
  • Custom folders: Items in ‘My Folder’ will be migrated for you by EBSCO. However, items will not be migrated from custom folders or the following default subfolders: Companies, Pages, Notes, Webpages, or Other content sources. You can avoid losing these by Moving saved searches from custom folders to My Folder; and/or save or export items from custom folders.
From 7th July, you will no longer have access to the classic interface in order to return to any saved searches or folders. For help migrating your account features, contact library@flinders.edu.au
