Library Support for Topic Preparation

Have you set your textbooks for the semester? Let the Library know!

The Library and teaching staff share responsibility for ensuring students have access to essential learning materials.

While staff are not required to prescribe a textbook, all topics should appear on the Student Textbook Page. This allows students to clearly determine if a textbook is required for their topic, rather than assuming its absence means it has not yet been assigned or decided. Providing this information supports the University’s ethos of being student centered and contributes to student success.

  1. Check the Student Textbook Page to see if your topic is listed. All topics should appear regardless of whether your topic is using a textbook.
  2. If your topic is not appearing, or features incorrect details, submit a Textbook Notification Form. If no textbook is required, there is an option to notify the library.

We have improved the frequency for submitting Textbook Notifications. These now only need to be done once; the Library will continue to list the title as the recommended or required textbook until notified of changes.

For more information please see the Textbook provision guidelines.

Need help creating or improving your Reading List?

Your existing Readings List will be rolled over, but we recommend reviewing the contents. Staff can use the Readings self-help guide or contact the library to arrange group or individual help.

Need help finding learning resources?

Contact the Library via the ‘Online content for topics’ form in Service One to organise a consultation. We can help you find videos, podcasts, eBook chapters, grey literature, and more!

Student skill enhancement

The library has a range of self-help resources, learning activities, and support options for teaching students how to find and engage with academic literature and using generative AI.

Submit a request for Embedding library skills in my topic via Service One and a staff member will make a recommendation based on your topic learning outcomes.
