PhD candidate Megan Dubowsky off to study in Western Australia

Outstanding PhD candidate Megan Dubowsky, in the final year of her studies at Flinders University will be heading to Western Australia at the invitation of the Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science.

Megan’s research has been looking at the cause of MND and is supported by a Commonwealth Research Training Scholarship and a MND Research Australia top-up Scholarship.

Megan is under the supervision of Assoc Prof Mary-Louise Rogers an internationally recognised MND researcher. A/Professor Rogers has extensive international and national collaborations in the investigating the underlying causes of MND and associated biomarkers.  A/Prof Rogers leads the national MND research collective and is supported by Prof Anthony Akkari, Head of Motor Neuron Disease Genetics and Therapeutics at the Perron Institute.

Both Prof Akkari (pictured below) and A/Prof Rogers are passionate about training opportunities for outstanding early career researchers and are keen to enrich the experience of the next generation with national and international assignments to MND teams and collaborators.

Prof Akkari stated that “it’s a real privilege to have Megan come to the Perron Institute, in this academic development program that fosters deeper connections between ours and A/Prof Rogers group”.
