Get to know your college: Vibha Singh

Vibha Singh, Project Officer, Organisation Development Rural and Remote Health 

 

What is your role and what does your work focus on?   

I am the Project Officer, Organisation Development Rural and Remote Health. My work focuses on building the capacity of our organisation to change and achieve greater effectiveness by developing, improving and reinforcing strategies, structures and processes. Currently I am working with functional heads to review Position Descriptions of employees under them. I am also working with a working group developing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Leadership profiles. 

Where did you work before joining CMPH?   

I was working with the SACE Board before joining Flinders and prior to that, with SA Water and  the Dept of Education on different Organisation Development projects.  

What journey brought you to this point in your career?   

I completed my Bachelor of Computer Science and then a Masters in Human Resource Management.  Earlier in my career I worked on Change Management projects using tools such as Kaizen, six sigma, Lean management to ensure continuous improvement. Later I worked in Organisation Development and workforce planning where I studied organisation culture, behaviour and worked towards aligning processes and procedures with organisation values and strategy. My previous experiences have stimulated my interest and involvement in all type of change processes. I have also worked on government projects where I had the opportunity to roll out projects for large employee groups. During all this time, I had 2 beautiful girls and now aspire to do a PhD on employee stress impacting an organisation’s culture, values and productivity. 

What is something you love most about your work?   

There are lot of things I enjoy about my work but one thing I love most is collaborating with different people who have rich experience in their own domain and they aspire to excel everyday.  

If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?   

To think before you act and reflect after each action.  

If you had a super power what would it be 

I would say 3:  

 1) photographic memory  

2) genie to convert all my thoughts in action/execution immediately  

3) NO MONDAYS PLEASE.   

How do you like to relax or spend your spare time?   

I enjoy watching movies, playing with the kids, doing some creative project like knitting, drawing, building Lego and I also like to play Sudoku and solve puzzles. 

Who is the most famous person you are related to?  

Vishwanath Pratap Singh, 7th Prime minister of India. His father and my great grandfather were brothers. Quite a distant relation 😊 but I am very proud of it.
