Rural and Remote Health Community Partnership Grants at work on the Fleurieu

Last week RRHSA caught up with Fleurieu recipients of the Flinders Rural and Remote Health Community Partnership Grants, presenting them with their “big cheque”.

Both The Encounter Centre and Goolwa Primary School received $2,000 for their community projects.

The Encounter Centre at Victor Harbor provides a range of activities and opportunities for people living with a disability to connect with others through recreational and social activities. They provide an inclusive environment where people feel connected to others in their community, and diversity is celebrated.

The funding for their project provided a series of four Botanical Art and Craft Workshops for members of the local community. This allowed them to access affordable opportunities to come together, connect with others, and create art and craft works under the tuition of professional instructors.

In Goolwa, the primary school is keen to encourage community members to make use of the open space school facilities, out of school hours.

Their grant funding was used to purchase two recycled bench seats to be placed in the park like school grounds, further strengthening relationships between the school and the wider community. A hub to meet, sit and watch children play, walk dogs, exercise and promote health and well-being for the Goolwa community.
