In September 2024, Flinders University hosted a Clinical Supervision Workshop in Alice Springs, welcoming 25 local health clinicians. The sessions focused on enhancing supervisory skills to ensure positive, impactful placements for health students in Central Australia.

By empowering local clinicians with professional development opportunities, Flinders helps build a stronger, locally trained healthcare workforce. Participants praised the workshop, calling it “very informative” and “helpful in guiding us to be better clinical supervisors.”

Professor James Smith, Deputy Dean of Rural and Remote Health NT at Flinders University, emphasises the critical role these supervisors play.

“Our health professionals are vital in guiding students through their placements, particularly in remote areas where they gain unique insights, invaluable cultural learning, and hands-on experience. Their mentorship helps shape the future health workforce,” says Professor Smith.
