The Flinders SA Regional Training Hubs supported two Junior Doctors from Mount Gambier to attend RMA 2024 in Darwin this year.
Dr Laura McEntee and Dr Lucy-Marie Silvestri, both Flinders graduates currently busy with their internship year at the Limestone Coast Local Health Network.
Laura said, ”Attending RMA 2024 in Darwin was a highlight of my internship. The topics covered at the conference were so broad, and it was inspiring to listen to people who are passionate about rural generalism. The learning I took away from the conference was as broad as the topics covered, from new treatment guidelines, to information about rural services doing amazing work in my home state and nationally, and tips for navigating the challenges faced by rural practitioners. I was also able to explore some of Darwin, a place I hadn’t been before and am now very keen to return to!
Being sponsored by the Limestone Coast Regional Training Hub made choosing to attend RMA a very easy decision as it significantly reduced the cost of attending. It is a very welcoming conference and I would recommend attending to anyone with an interest in practicing rural medicine. “
