With the introduction of the new competencies and portfolio approach to assessment this year, it was essential that all placement sites were briefed on the new processes, Singapore included. Each year Singapore dietitians provide multiple placements in various settings to support Clinical, Community Public Health and Food Service Placements.
In late February, Amanda Wray headed to Singapore to individually meet with placement educators at our partnering hospitals to provide an update and briefing on the implementation of the new competencies and how student portfolios would support student competence development. These include Singapore General, Ng Teng Fong General, Tan Tock Seng, Khoo Teck Puat, Changi General and National University Hospitals.
During this visit, Amanda also represented Nutrition & Dietetics at the AUG Study in Australia Education Fair at the Hotel Grand Pacific. This event is an opportunity for Singaporean school graduates and their parents to meet staff from Universities offering different courses from around Australia. Amanda attended this event with Dr Chris Brebner from Speech Pathology and Sophia Tan from the International Office and met numerous students keen on the opportunity to come and study nutrition at Flinders in future.
