Outside Studies Program successful in progressing important research on malnutrition in vulnerable patient groups

PhD Candidate Jolene Thomas returned to her role as Lecturer in July after completing a 4 months Outside Studies Program during Semester 1. Outside Studies Programs allows academic staff members an opportunity to pursue a range of opportunities related to research and scholarship at the University.

Jolene commenced her PhD (Part-time) in 2014 and in March 2017 undertook OSP focusing on the analysis and a write up of her PhD which is investigating nutritional status of vascular surgery patients and the development of tools to identify those at nutritional risk.

During the 4 months, she has drafted 2 manuscripts for submission and 4 chapters for her thesis. She will be presenting her work at the 10th Asia Pacific Conference on Clinical Nutrition. She will continue writing up and plans to submit her thesis in 2018.
