Dr Lucy Bell represents Flinders University at the DHA-SACOSS Case Study Booklet Launch

The Department of Health and Ageing and South Australian Council of Social Services’ Case Study booklet was launched on Thursday 19th October, and Dr Lucy Bell represented Flinders University Nutrition & Dietetics (FUND). The Case Study Booklet was developed to showcase the great work from the community services sector and the launch was an opportunity to present these case studies to the community. FUND contributed to three out of the thirteen case studies: ‘The role of grandparents in promoting healthy lifestyle behaviours in their 1-5 years’, ‘Evaluating the health impacts of the SA Community Foodies program’, and ‘Food for Freedom: providing meals to women and children leaving domestic violence’.

These case studies represent FUND collaborations with community groups to share our knowledge and expertise for health improvement. Lucy works with Grandparents for Grandchildren SA Inc on the Grandparents Project, and Assoc. Prof Kaye Mehta works with Uniting Care Wesley Bowden on evaluation of the SA Community Foodies program, and with Community Health Onkaparinga on the Food for Freedom project.

The event was attended by SA Heath Chief Public Health Officer Paddy Phillips and Chief Executive of the Department of Health and Aging Vickie Kaminski and overall was a great showcase of the work being done across SA communities in the health and wellbeing space.
