Skill Spotlight: Academic Publishing

Welcome to this week’s HDR Development Bulletin.

The skill we are focusing on this week is Academic Publishing and there are two opportunities for you to consider.

The first is the “Best Higher Degree by Research Student Publication Prize.” To enter, submit one eligible publication to the Dean of Research of your college. Further information, including eligibility criteria, can be found here.

The second is a fantastic opportunity to learn about all things open access research. Making research publications and data openly available increases exposure to your work and can help boost citations. With International Open Access Week being held from 23-27 October this year, the library has put together a host of events to help all researchers learn about all the options available for making your research open access at no cost. The week will open with a panel discussion and networking event which includes morning tea, followed by a number of workshops on open access publishing, copyright, research data and avoiding predatory publishing. Since there are so many sessions on offer next week, we thought we would let you know a bit earlier than usual so you can plan ahead. View the full schedule and register via iEnrol.
