Staff member Gwyn Jolley’s doctoral thesis is titled ‘Evaluating complex community-based health promotion: addressing the challenges’ The thesis investigated evaluation of community‑based health promotion initiatives, where contested understandings of health promotion and the dominance of a positivist research paradigm present challenges to effective evaluation. The thesis presents a conceptual model that brings together program theory and complexity theory in order to guide reflexive evaluation practice for community-based health promotion initiatives. Gwyn is currently writing an academic paper from her thesis.
