The Southgate Institute for Health, Society and Equity / Flinders University: Health in All Policies PhD Scholarship

The Southgate Institute for Health, Society and Equity and Flinders University are offering a three-year PhD scholarship for full-time research on an NHMRC funded project entitled ‘Does a Health in All Policies approach improve health, well-being and equity?’

The successful applicant will undertake their research within the Southgate Institute at Flinders University. The Southgate Institute seeks to enhance health, wellbeing and equitable outcomes in South Australia by contributing to improving the quality of primary health care, health promotion and population health initiatives through research, evaluation and building the capacity of the workforce.

BENEFITS
The scholarship is open to students wishing to commence a PhD in early 2014, and is valued at $25,392.00 pa tax-free (2014 full-time rate). The scholarship will initially be awarded for a maximum of three years. Recipients may be eligible for one six month extension subject to application and consideration by the Faculty.

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the award of this scholarship a student must be:

  • an Australian citizen,
  • a New Zealand citizen
  • an Australian permanent resident at the closing date for applications, or
  • an international student in receipt of an International Postgraduate research scholarship and be enrolled, or be seeking to enrol, as a full-time student in a research higher degree at Flinders University and have completed a Bachelor degree with Second Class (Division A) Honours or above, or an equivalent level of academic attainment

Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander candidates or candidates with a specific interest in Indigenous health policy are encouraged to apply. Candidates with qualifications in health sciences, social sciences or a related area are also encouraged to apply.
