Australia Exchange – Part 2!

Kindra from LASALLE College of the Arts, University of the Arts, Singapore undertaking an exchange at Flinders University during Semester 1 2025.

The final stretch of the exchange program at Flinders University, I find myself reflecting on just how much this experience has shaped me. The second half of the semester felt like it flew by even faster than the first, filled with assignments, group work, and moments I’ll never forget.

One thing I’ve appreciated more and more is how the people around me have been, the classmates and lecturers. We’ve gone from awkward small talk to activities in class to editing videos. Having people who are passionate and driven made everything more exciting and meaningful.

Academically, I’ve grown in ways I didn’t expect. Navigating a different education system has helped me become more adaptable and confident. Whether it was presenting in class, contributing to group discussions or managing deadlines, I’ve learned how to push myself while still enjoying the process. I’m proud of how much I’ve achieved in such a short time. It made me learn more about what I can do beyond just filming but other creativity as well.

Beyond the classroom, I continued exploring Adelaide like hiking in nature reserves, trying local food and watching the sunset. Each outing added a new layer to my understanding of this city and its people. Adelaide might be calm compared to other big cities, but that’s what made it feel so welcoming and easy to settle into. It feels like Adelaide becoming my second home as I am starting to get used to the city work-life balance here.

Now that the end is approaching, I feel a mix of emotions of gratitude, nostalgia, and a little sadness. It’s not easy to say goodbye to a place that became a second home. But I’m leaving with a full heart and so many memories that I’ll carry with me long after I return home.

Thank you, Flinders, for everything. I’ll miss this chapter dearly, but I know this is just the beginning of many more adventures ahead.

P.S Adelaide I will be back soon!

Kindra was fortunate to be awarded a Destination Australia Cheung Kong Exchange Program Scholarship to support her exchange experience.
