Drop in to talk about free student support at Flinders

At Flinders, we want you to be successful and to feel supported throughout your studies. We know that sometimes the pressures of University and personal life can become hard to manage, but it’s important to remember you’re not alone.

Flinders provides a wide range of free student support services to help you succeed at University.

Come to the Drop In Support Lounge to learn more about student support services

The Drop In Support Lounge is your one-stop-shop to learn about student support services at Flinders. Drop in, grab a snack and have a chat with staff about how the support services can benefit you. Drop in to one of the following locations:

Tuesday 20 August 10.30am – 1.00pm: The Flinders Pantry and Café at Sturt (map ref V5)

Wednesday 21 August or Thursday 22 August 10.30am – 1.00pm: inside the Student Hub at Bedford Park. Ground floor, near the Registry Rd entrance (map ref H9).

The following support services staff will be at the Drop In Support Lounge

Course-related support
Get advice about changing your course or adding additional degrees to your studies.

Financial support
Chat to Student Assist staff for support and advice on student welfare matters, including financial advocacy services.

Health and wellbeing
Staff from the health, counselling and disability service will be available to offer advice on managing stress, access to disability resources, and how to make an appointment with qualified counsellors, doctors and nurses on campus.

The team at Flinders University Sport and Fitness can answer your questions about the on campus gym (note there is a small cost to use the gym), as well as other resources you can use to improve your health and fitness.

Staff from Oasis Community and Wellbeing Centre will be able to talk about the Centre’s facilities and the events they run to help students achieve academic and wellbeing success.

Academic/study support
Library and FLO support staff can chat to you about their services including research support services, assistance with FLO, and advice about accessing library resources.

Student Learning Centre staff can talk to you about their academic study support services such as help with referencing, academic writing, maths and English language.

Student Assist can also chat through the academic advocacy support services they offer.

International Student Services
The International Student Services (ISS) team can provide advice and support related to visa conditions, the implications of withdrawing with topics, study, welfare, accommodation and more.

Career planning
Meet staff from the Flinders Careers and Employability service to talk about the range of professional development events and resources, job opportunities and connections with industry and employers the University offers to help you plan for your career and where your studies can take you.

Support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
The team from Yunggorendi provide advice and support for Indigenous students, including academic, pastoral and financial support, counselling, a culturally safe study space and more.

College support staff will also be available to help you on the day.

If you can’t attend in person you can submit a question online, or request to be contacted by one (or more) of the support services above by completing this short online form before 5pm Friday 23 August.
