Market Garden Construction Works

As part of Flinders Sustainability Plan we will soon be further enhancing the ‘Grow, Eat, Learn’ market garden located north of McHughs.

Tiering and raised garden beds will be developed for the planting of fresh produce. A new irrigation system and a shade structure will be installed, and a formal path created enabling our community to venture through the space.

We’ve carefully selected sustainable materials for this work – the shade structure will be constructed from reclaimed and recycled timbers, there will be a water-butt installed to catch any rainwater from the roof, and all weed protection is made from coconut fibres.

We will also be adding some extra colour to the space with a bright mural being painted on the shipping container garden storage shed.

There may be some noise and dust disruptions over the coming weeks whilst we undertake these works, and we ask that you take note of any access changes through the space while workers are on site.

We appreciate your patience while we continue to create this great social and sustainable space for our students and staff.
