The Andrew Thyne Reid is available to nursing, midwifery and allied health students (social work included) to complete placements in rural and remote locations.
Successful candidates will receive a scholarship of $5,000 to assist with accommodation, travel, living and other placement expenses. The scholarship also assists students with some of the potential barriers for students to undertake rural placements such as loss of income and cost of home base accommodation.
The Andrew Thyne Reid Scholarship has so far supported 86 teaching students and two health care students from Flinders University in 2020 alone. Of the participants, 77% have accepted teaching positions in rural and regional locations across Australia once graduated.
Enjoy the experience of living in a rural or remote community and gain industry experience!
