Safety at Flinders

Everyone in our University community deserves to feel safe to study, work and socialise in an environment free from sexual harassment or sexual assault.

The Flinders University Student Association is a leader with the nationally acclaimed Be A Better Human campaign. The key messages of empathy, consent and respect are impactful and important reminders of where appropriate boundaries lie.

Sexual harassment and sexual assault is never acceptable. If you or someone you know has experienced sexual harassment or sexual assault, or you are concerned about an incident, please consider making a report. Making a report does not initiate a complaint, it is the first step to offer you support and a chance to talk through your options.

If you would prefer to talk with someone or would like information/support before reporting the incident, contact Counselling Services on 08 8201 2118, (Monday – Friday, 8.45am to 5.00pm) for free and confidential support. For out of hours support, you can call the out of hours counselling crisis support line on 1300 512 409 or text 0488 884 103.

If you prefer, you can email counselling on counselling@flinders.edu.au or an Equal Opportunity adviser on studenteo@flinders.edu.au or make a report online.

Please see our Safety on Campus page for more information, including links to external support services, which can also receive reports of sexual harassment or sexual assault.

If you want to know more about the measures we’re taking to support your safety and wellbeing  see our Respect.Now.Always Action Plan.

The Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Policy contains links to University processes for receiving and responding to reports, as well as a link to an online reporting form.
