O’Week Advisory Group

The Transition Office oversees O’Week, ensuring it meets its objectives of orienting new students into the Flinders campus and culture to smooth their transition into University study. The O’Week Advisory Group (O’WAG) is one method of enabling this successful event. Members of O’WAG are drawn from all key stakeholder groups, such as each central support service, FUSA, Flinders Living and orientation / transition representatives from each of the colleges.

Recent reports from central units and colleges confirm yet again that commencing students consider Flinders University as a friendly institution. Students responding to the survey, administered to all commencing students in Semester 2, indicated that they were very positive about the FUSA events that were organised and the help they received from all the support services during Week 1. Several students commented on how this made them feel at home, an important step in developing a sense of belonging.

To ensure that Flinders O’Week continues to be successful, it is essential that all six colleges are represented and have a voice on O’WAG. This enables a sharing of information, more efficient allocation of resources, and a reduction in event duplication and timetable clashes. With this in mind, the Transition Office invites those colleges who currently do not have a representative on O’WAG as a result of the restructure, to nominate a representative to be a member on O’WAG to communicate with the Transition Office on orientation matters.
