Enhancing English Language Skills in the Academic Context

The English Language Support Program (ELSP) assists English as an Additional Language (EAL) students to communicate effectively within the academic context. By enrolling in the ELSP, students can develop their academic skills, build confidence and participate fully in their disciplinary communities.

The ELSP is a free, 7-week program offered in March and August by the Student Learning Centre, and comprises a range of modules including Grammar, Pronunciation, Listening and Discussion. Modules are conducted in a series of 7 consecutive two-hour workshops run by experienced English as a Second Language (ESL) tutors. Students are taught the core skills for the module and have opportunities to practice the targeted skills in a supportive environment.

Modules can be completed in either semester and students are encouraged to participate fully in the 7-weeks of the module in order to benefit fully from the learning objectives of the module.

If you have students who could potentially benefit from enrolling in the ELSP, encourage them to visit the ELSP website to register: https://students.flinders.edu.au/study-support/slc/elsp

Registration is expected to open 24 February.
