An absolute hero

My wife Suzie is an Associate Nurse Unit Manager at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, and a graduate of Flinders University.

She volunteered to head to Melbourne to assist in managing the aged care crisis in Victoria, putting herself in direct contact with COVID-19 positive patients. When Suzie rang me to tell me she was heading over, she was clear that she felt a moral imperative to do it after hearing about the conditions residents in these facilities were exposed to.

She had put herself into a situation surrounded by disease and death, and I am so incredibly proud of her and her efforts. Although there were a number of nurses who went over, Suzie has left our family and children to do so, and given what a devoted mother she is I know how hard this has been on her. She’s an absolute hero to me.
