Supporting early stage commercialisation in SA

When: Thursday 3rd March at 2.30pm

Where: Room 1.08 or online

MDRI’s MedTech Ventures are supported through three separate grants programs through the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF).

Each program supports early stage translation and commercialisation of medical devices through grant funding, project management and mentoring of applicants and awardees. MDRI’s venture partner case managers Ms Olivia White and Dr Andrew Milligan will share their knowledge and experience around MDRI’s current programs, what opportunities there are for our researchers and what assessors are looking for when reviewing applications. A bio of each of the presenters is below.

Olivia White is the Research Translation lead for MDRI and a key driver of strategy for MDPP. She currently leads Flinders University’s involvement in the Targeted Translational Research Accelerator (TTRA) Program, and with a background as Regional Sales Manager for Stryker, Olivia brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to Flinders.

Dr Andrew Milligan has been the MedTech ventures case manager for the Biomedical Translation Bridge (BTB) grants program for the past 3 years. In 2022 he will commence as the case manager for the recently announced Clinical Translation and Commercialisation Medtech (CTCM) program. Prior to joining Flinders,  Andrew worked in life sciences business development, commercialisation and industry development for over 15 years. Andrew also cofounded the company Lifeprint Australia, which successfully licensed one of his patented inventions to a large biotechnology company.
