Electronic assignments

As announced last May with effect from First Semester 2014, all student assignments generated in electronic form should be submitted by the student and returned to the student electronically.

If you are a topic coordinator and you are not yet sure of how to manage your electronic assignments, please check these options for support.

With First Semester 2014 soon to commence, thank you for your preparation so far for another season of teaching. Flinders courses continue to enjoy strong demand from commencing students. The University appreciates the attention of all of its teaching and professional staff to ensuring that these students have a high-quality educational experience.

The upcoming Semester has a special feature. From First Semester 2014, all student assignments generated in electronic form should be submitted by the student and returned to the student electronically.

In essence this marks the end of the hardcopy submission and return of standard student essays, reports and other like assignments. While assignments not prepared by students in electronic format are outside the scope of this statement, topic coordinators are encouraged to consider conversion to electronic format where feasible. More information about what is and what is not in scope can be found on the eAssignment webpage.

Support is available online (including video tutorials) via the staff FLO support site or by contacting your eLearning Support team.

Hands-on workshops are also available:
Electronic Marking – Possibilities and Considerations
FLO: Assignments for topic coordinators
FLO: Assignments for markers
Annotating Assignments Electronically
FLO: Using Marking Guides

Customised training sessions for tutors and casual markers are available on request by emailing flo.help@flinders.edu.au at least one week before the preferred day. There is also a wide range of support options for students, including online support materials at www.flinders.edu.au/assignments, the FLO Helpdesk to answer questions and a series of demonstration sessions in the library. The FLO Helpdesk is also available to run in-lecture demonstration sessions (to make arrangements, please contact Ms Veronica Ghee).
