Flinders part of Healthy Weight Week

Nutrition & Dietetic dietitians from Flinders University, student volunteers and Celebrity Chefs Callum Hahn and friends will be ‘cooking off’ for 10 hours at the Central Market today (Tuesday, February 18) as part of Australian Healthy Weight Week.

The Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) launched Australia’s Healthy Weight Week (AHWW) on 17 February. With events being held across the country, Flinders University dietitians Kacie Dickinson and Louisa Matwiejczyk say this year’s campaign will be urging Australians to ditch the quick-fix diets that you can’t stick to over the long haul.

Brushing up on cooking is a top priority for the 2014 campaign. Dietitians from Flinders and the DAA State Branch are teaming with the celebrity cook Callum Hann and Accredited Practising Dietitian, Themis Chryssidis, from Sprout, to showcase how all Australians can be healthy and confident cooks in their own kitchens. Celebrity friends of Callum’s will also be involved, as will as Healthy Worker Advisers and local dietitians at events in the Riverland and Mt Gambier.
