New Flinders Community of Practice

Interested people are invited to participate in a new Flinders University Community of Practice on  Reading Freire: Pedagogy of the Oppressed.

This CoP is intended as a forum for people interested in sharing and reflecting upon pedagogical practice and its relation to equity and social justice. It will use the work of Brazilian educator and father of the ‘critical pedagogy’ movement as its focal point. The initial meetings will involve a close reading of Freire’s famous work Pedagogy of the Oppressed and take up his invitation to see education as more than a set of narrow techniques. Rather, it is to be understood as a practice that is ethically anchored with the potential for both human and social transformation.

We hope to see you at the first meeting on Friday, March 14 from midday to 1pm in the Noel Stockdale Room, Central Library. Subsequent meetings will be held on a fortnightly basis. Further details are available here.
