The Work Health and Safety Unit has recently updated a number of its webpages to ensure that they reflect WHS legislative requirements and terminology. In particular, we draw your attention to the following and ask that you make staff in your area aware of this information:
Hazardous Manual Tasks (previously Manual Handling) outlines supervisors’ and managers’ responsibilities
and provides links to
- the Code of Practice Hazardous Manual Tasks which is a practical guide on how tomanage the risk of musculoskeletal disorders arising from hazardous manual tasks in the workplace, and
- a Hazardous Manual Tasks Risk Management Worksheet which should be used to decide if a manual task is hazardous, to identify the source of the risk and to identify the controls to eliminate or reduce the risk(s).

- new forms and checklists for acquisition of plant, disposal of plant, risk assessments and safe work procedures
