Similar to last years’ arrangements, an annual bulk purchase of the statistical package Stata Type SE (Academic version with pdf documentation) is being organised. Because of already confirmed number of licences to be purchased, the cost of a single-user Stata TYPE SE 13 perpetual licence is now $554 (including 10 per cent GST), instead of $1092 if purchased independently by a single researcher.

The final price is conditional upon the number of researchers joining the bulk order; hence it is likely to decline with $554 being an upper bound.

While there are no plans to make changes to the current arrangements of the site licence for the SPSS, access to another comprehensive and cost effective statistical package may encourage some researchers to explore the capabilities of the Stata program.
