Waterloo’s 200th celebrated with readings and song

A 19th century painted screen from the Heap-Mannam Collection will stand in for the usual Power Point presentation when the next Friday in the Library presents Remembering Waterloo: End of an era and beginning of a myth.

Join Flinders Library for an afternoon of talks on the history leading up to the landmark battle in 1815, including the Duchess of Richmond’s famous ball (the subject of the screen), the course of the battle, and its aftermath and legacy, as well as readings from English and French literature, and music inspired by the battle.

The event runs from 2pm to 5pm in the Noel Stockdale Room of the Central Library on Friday, 19 June.
