The workshop ‘Strategies for implementing inquiry-based laboratories in STEM topics’will discuss the role of inquiry-based laboratories in the undergraduate curriculum and the evidence that inquiry can improve student engagement and learning outcomes.
Participants will experience an inquiry-based laboratory from the student perspective and compare it to a traditional verification laboratory. Strategies to implement inquiry in other topics will be explored. This workshop is for staff who teach practicals in science topics in the university. Participants are invited to bring examples of content which they would like to present to students in an inquiry-based format.
