Prizewinning new play gets its first outing

PlayThe winning entry in the Flinders University Young Playwrights Award will have a rehearsed reading in the Dunstan Playhouse on Monday, 31 August.

The State Theatre Company’s major award for the encouragement and support of new writing talent went to Flinders graduate Holly Brindley for her play Cat. The judges commended the author for her “skill in crafting dialogue and character”.

Cat depicts an encounter between a sex worker and a new client which gets off on the wrong foot when the client arrives with flowers. But that’s not all that he has brought. Beneath the simmering menace of every word they exchange lies the unspoken presence of their shared past.

Please confirm your attendence via rsvp@statetheatrecompany.com.au or phone (08) 8415 5333 before Wednesday, 26 August. Entry is by gold coin donation.
