Ms Stephanie Walker, who has been working as Media Officer for the Flinders University Students Association for the past three years, has won the Joe Curtis Award.

The Award takes the form of a $5000 travel scholarship to further professional development and is part of the national CampusLink awards, which recognise excellence in marketing, services, student programs and innovation within the tertiary sector.

Ms Walker will use the scholarship to travel to the US next year, where she will speak on student publications in New York, followed by visits to Texas, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

At Flinders, in addition to her ongoing mentoring work with the editors of the University’s Empire Times student newspaper, Ms Walker has recently completed a full rebrand of the FUSA logo and is currently working with University departments to get students involved in the new student bar artwork.

She is also involved in the arts and non-profit community, working with emerging writers and artists through Express Media.
