Australia Day honour for Flinders forensics adjunct

PigouIllicit drug expert and Flinders adjunct academic Associate Professor Paul Pigou has received an Australia Day Public Service Medal for his contributions to forensic science in South Australia. 

Dr Pigou, who is Science Leader, Chemistry and Materials at the State’s Forensic Science South Australia (FSSA), is responsible for investigations into clandestine illicit drug laboratories and the examination of explosives, chemical warfare agents, arson residues and trace evidence.

Dr Pigou obtained first-class honours in organic chemistry at Flinders University in 1979 and was awarded a PhD in 1984. He was the recipient of a prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Fellowship and carried out postdoctoral research at the Australian National University, Bangor University, Wales and Flinders before moving to a career in forensic science.
