Subjects sought for Major Depressive Disorder study

In July the Personal Health Informatics group at Flinders University officially started working on a new project funded by the Australian National Data Service (ANDS).

Over the course of the project, data will be collected via two unique cohorts, the first focussing on how online technologies can be used to influence the health and wellbeing of young adults (in collaboration with ReachOut Australia), and the second assessing the longitudinal course of Major Depressive Disorder (in collaboration with SAHMRI Mind and Brain).

The separate collections will contribute to the final high value data set made available through this project. Data will be transformed to derive higher order constructs and parameters (e.g. physical activity) from different data sources (apps, wearables) using different assessment strategies (e.g. counting steps, accelerometer data).

A software platform is to be developed that allows for the data from the separate collections to be deposited, managed and retrieved, in order to ensure the research data can be made openly available for reuse by other researchers.
