Flinders has launched Jabber Guest (Video Chat), an alternative to using Skype.

Unlike Skype, where you need to register, Jabber Guest will allow any student or other third party outside the University to have a video enabled telephone call with you, directly from their web browser.

As long as they have a webcam, speakers and microphone, all they need is your Jabber Guest link.

Picture a student navigating the Flinders website, thinking about registering for a course who decides they want to speak with someone for assistance.

On the webpage, right in front of them, will be a “Video Chat” button. They click on the button and a call is established with an appropriate staff member, straight from their web browser.

It’s also the perfect solution for job interview when a candidate is unable to attend in person.

Alternatively, a personal video chat link  can be added to your email signature, allowing another avenue for communication.

This can provide external parties with the ability to establish a video call with you from outside Flinders.
