Caring for Indigenous Australians at the end of their life

Flinders CareSearch team has published resources that support culturally-appropriate palliative care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Ensuring that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients feel culturally safe and receive culturally responsive care is a key responsibility of every health care provider.

Guided by an expert advisory group comprised of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people representing various organisations across the Australian health sector, CareSearch has created online resources that will help build a path of cultural capability and understanding for supporting the care of Indigenous Australians.

The resources include information for all health care providers on how to provide culturally appropriate care and find relevant research and evidence regarding care for Australia’s First Peoples.

The resources have a strong emphasis on a person’s individual care journey and how members of the health care workforce support this journey along the way.

The resource can be access via the CareSearch Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Hub.
