Investigating positive parenting relationships after separation

Flinders researchers are looking for study participants to talk about the impacts of positive parenting relationships after divorce or separation.

With most research highlighting the negative impacts of parental separation or divorce on children, Dr Priscilla Dunk-West and Associate Professor Kris Natalier want to find out what works well.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that things can, and do, go right for many parents and children on the other side of divorce and the Flinders researchers want to hear from parents across Australia who have separated or divorced who have what they would describe as a positive or healthy relationship with their ex-partner.

The configuration of families is changing, with people in relationships living in separate residences, the role of friendships and communities is also better acknowledged in contemporary research yet to date, there is no research in Australia that seeks out positive stories of family shifts after divorce or separation.
