Human Research Ethics Committee seeks lay members

The Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN) Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) is currently seeking one lay member and two proxy lay members to fill vacancies on the committee.

The committee considers research and audit applications involving patients, patients’ families, members of the committee and WCHN staff.

To be eligible to become a lay or lay proxy member, individuals must:

  • Have no affiliation with WCHN and not be currently engaged in medical, scientific, legal or academic work
  • Be able to regularly attend scheduled meetings

In order to comply with National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) requirements, applicants must be able to regularly attend scheduled meetings on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 12.00pm-3.00pm at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Proxy lay members will be required to attend scheduled meetings on an ad hoc basis.

Positions on the HREC are honorary.
