Politics vs science in the age of climate change

Political scientist and policy expert Dr Peter Tangney has authored an important new work on climate adaption policy in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Entitled Climate adaptation policy and evidence: understanding the tensions between politics and expertise in public policy, the book compares the politics and science behind climate adaptation policies and how realistic these policies are in practice.

Despite there being a wealth of expert evidence about future climate impacts, the book argues that climate science is often ignored or politicised to ensure that it supports prevailing political and economic ideals.

Dr Tangney’s comparative analysis reveals what the politics of climate change mean for the ongoing development of useful evidence and for the practice of evidence-based policymaking.

The book is available now from Routledge.
