Lisa to learn from Nobel Laureates

Flinders PhD student Lisa Alcock has capped an extraordinary year by being selected to meet Nobel Laureates in the areas of physics, chemistry, physiology and medicine at the 10th JSPS HOPE Meeting in Yokohama, Japan, from 11-15 March 2018.

Lisa and five other Australians will join more than 100 outstanding graduate students and young researchers from throughout the Asia–Pacific region at the event, organised and hosted by The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.

It is the latest international honour for the chemistry student from the Chalker Research Lab.

In August, Lisa participated in the 2017 SciFinder Future Leaders program in the United States, and in January she will head to the University of Cambridge’s Department of Chemistry for advanced study after being awarded a 2018 Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship.

Lisa is one of six Flinders University recipients of 2018 Australia Awards – Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships.

Mr Farid Anvari, Dr Kacie Dickinson, Miss Christine Evans, Dr Katharina Peters and Mr Alan Taylor will all travel to the The Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand and Brazil for research projects in 2018.

The Endeavour program will also bring 12 international students and researchers to Flinders University for study during 2018.
