Geologists set to shake up pub science series

What does a tectonic plate say after it bumps into you at the bar? Sorry, my fault. This gag sets the tone for the next SciPub event: #SciPubPlateTectonics on Friday 6 April at the Rob Roy Hotel (106 Halifax St, Adelaide) from 6.00pm until 7:30 pm.

Focusing on plate tectonics, a panel of three experts will explain in simple terms how the plates of the Earth move, how geologists can tell they are moving and how this affects volcanoes and tsunamis.

Panelists for the #SciPubPlateTectonics session are Associate Professor Erick Bestland from Flinders University’s College of Science and Engineering, Dr Laura Rollison (School of Engineering, University of South Australia) and retired geologist Bob Major (formerly with SA Department of Mines and Energy).

This continues the SciPub series that aims to make science engaging and accessible to the public through informal conversations about exciting science topics, in a relaxed and convivial pub atmosphere.
