More blood donors needed to win the Challenge

Flinders University is the reigning tertiary champion in blood donation, but has slipped behind Adelaide University in the 2018 Red25 Blood Donation Challenge and needs more donors to retain it outstanding record.

The current Red25 Blood Donation Challenge is already in full swing and Flinders got off to an enthusiastic start during the first week of the state-wide program.

But as always, more blood donors are needed.

Red Cross is delighted that so far 128 people from tertiary institutions in South Australia and the Northern Territory  have made blood donations – this equates to 384 lives saved.

Flinders University registered the highest number of blood donations and new blood donors within South Australia’s tertiary sector in 2017.

It was a significant contribution in a successful campaign that saw Red25 donations account for 31.5 per cent of all blood donations received by Red Cross in South Australia last year.

There is still time for Flinders to rise to the challenge, with the current Red25 campaign continuing until 13 June 2018.
