The invisible women of war

Flinders’ Professor Melanie Oppenheimer was invited to deliver the Blamey Oration in Hobart on 19 April 2018.

Her presentation was titled ‘Australian Women at War’, including a discussion on how the roles of women, both on the war front and at home, have been downplayed or ignored and effectively made invisible to history.

The event was held at Government House. A PowerPoint of her presentation may be downloaded from Dropbox here.

Blamey Orations are conducted Australia wide and broadly address contemporary strategic defence and security issues. The presenter is awarded a Blamey Medallion.
