A few days remain to put bold ideas forward

An exceptional response has been received to the draft Flinders University Sustainability Plan – but there are still a few days left to have a say on how Flinders could reduce its carbon footprint.

The draft sustainability plan, titled Bold ideas, Brighter Future, was released for consultation in July 2018 and has been met with a wide range of creative, innovative and bold ideas from students and staff.

Feedback so far has ranged from ideas on recycling and harvesting water, reducing food waste, using less electricity, reducing packaging, to suggestions on increasing renewable energy use through solar panels and alternative transport options.

While Flinders already has a strong commitment to sustainability with many initiatives helping to reduce its environmental impact, the University is committed to greater change, better results and stronger leadership in this critical area.

Anyone keen to have their say who has not yet done so, has just a few days remaining, with the consultation period closing this Friday, 24 August 2018.

Staff can submit a feedback form on the Sustainability at Flinders webpage, or write their ideas on the feedback walls located at Bedford Park (the Hub), Victoria Square (level 10), Tonsley (level 2 and 5), Sturt and Flinders NT.

While visiting the feedback walls, staff are welcome to pick up a sustainability bookmark – embedded with carrot seeds for planting later or gifting to a friend.

The draft Sustainability Plan will be shaped into a final report for release in late 2018.
