Flinders’ Careers and Employability Service is hosting annual Joblink Summits during March and April to connect students and recent graduates with industry partners and foster meaningful conversations about future employment and career options.
The ‘summit format’ was introduced in 2018, replacing the old-fashioned ‘career expo’ model, to allow potential employers to address all attendees in a conference-style format before hosting smaller information sessions with interested students.
Joblink Summits are highly relevant to penultimate and final year students and recent graduates. Staff are asked to encourage students to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to develop connections with employers.
“The format offers a reduced number of carefully selected industry partners the opportunity to connect with a large number of students and recent graduates, encouraging deeper and more personalised conversations,” says Flinders University Employer Liaison Recruitment Coordinator, Philippa Spencer.
“80% of students who attended the 2018 Summits made a valuable connection with an employer, and industry attendees commented on the improved quality of conversations with students” Ms Spencer says.
The South Australian Government has signed on again as Major Sponsor of Flinders’ Joblink Summits and will leverage the platform to promote the ‘I WORK FOR SA’ jobs portal.
