Policy consultation – academic freedom

The University community has the opportunity to comment on the latest draft of the Academic Freedom and Freedom of Speech Policy, which was formerly titled the Intellectual Freedom Policy.

The Intellectual Freedom Policy was released earlier this year for comment as part of a University-wide consultation process. Several events have occurred since then affecting the policy. These include the French Review of freedom of speech in the higher education sector undertaken for the Australian Government and a new Enterprise Agreement between the University and staff.

In light of these developments and taking into account feedback received from the last round of University-wide consultation, the draft new Academic Freedom and Freedom of Speech Policy has been prepared and can now be accessed via the Flinders Policy Library .

Given the pending summer holiday period, the draft policy will be available for feedback until 28 February 2020. Comments may be provided to policyandsecretariat@flinders.edu.au.
