Additional flu vaccinations

Flinders University WHS has scheduled an additional flu vaccination day for staff on the wait list, with additional appointments available to others on a first-in basis.

While COVID-19 is at the forefront of our minds, the influenza vaccination (although not offering protection against COVID-19) is critical to reducing the number of flu cases in 2020.

Each year the University provides flu vaccinations for staff through its Health and Wellbeing program.

The additional vaccination day will take place on 20 May at the Registry Building. Access the booking page here.

People who are working from home are welcome to book an appointment and attend site for the flu vaccination, but need to maintain social distancing. Locations have been checked to ensure they allow appropriate social distancing and people are asked not to arrive early, and please adhere to their booked time slot.

To protect everyone, we request that staff do not visit the onsite flu vaccination nurse if you:

  • are feeling unwell with flu-like symptoms (eg fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath)
  • have returned from overseas in the last 14 days
  • have had close contact with someone confirmed to have coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Please note this flu vaccination service is only available to Flinders University staff.

For interested staff, the vaccination is a Quadrivalent. If staff have any additional questions, BUPA have a comprehensive FAQ section available within the booking page.

To cancel or amend your booking, please refer to your confirmation email. If you have any questions or would like to know more about this service not noted on the booking page, please contact BUPA on 1300 881 580 or at customerservicewellness@bupa.com.au.

Vaccination information

The flu vaccination takes around two minutes, can help prevent flu-specific illness in healthy adults, and the immunity against the flu can last for 6-12 months. A yearly flu vaccination is recommended for most people as flu viruses change and create new forms each year, so you may not have immunity.
