Dance and film unite in iso

Short films made in isolation by the dancers of Australian Dance Theatre under the tutelage of Dr Tom Young and honours student Alice Reardon have been published and are available to view online.

The project, titled Microfilms, enabled the dancers to learn the process of film making from concept, treatment and storyboard through to filming and editing.

Rather than simply delivering superb snapshots of dance brilliance, the productions skilfully marry the art forms of film and dance – resulting in triumphs of mood and movement, each fantastically unique in the emotions they elicit.

Filmed using smart phones, the opportunity enabled the dancers to learn new skills relevant to all creative professions, provided a valuable experience for Ms Reardon, and brought the work of these talented creatives out into the community for all to enjoy.
